Courses
Fiction as Theory
as Poetry

Oh, you are so full of references!
Claudia Slanar

1.Termin: 13.10.2015 10:00 – 13:00
Abt. Landschaftskunst

Through the lense of landscape and place we will explore various theoretic, essayistic and poetic texts  (among them Roland Barthes, Gilles Deleuze/Félix Guattari, Chris Kraus, Anna Mitgutsch, George Perec, Robert Smithson, Rebecca Solnit, etc. ...) and how they approach these contested topics. At the same time, these texts themselves will function as landscapes that can be reviewed and rewritten; that are constructs far from referencing the “natural”, a specific genre or an "authentic" author. In disentangling the various political, cultural and socio-economic references within we will explore the politics of writing, visual representation and place that are so inextricably linked.
At the end of the semester, we will have the opportunity to attend a week-long workshop at NIDA art colony in Lithuania which is co-taught by Vilnius University (more info available at the first meeting, Oct. 5).
