Die Lehrveranstaltung erprobt eine prozessbezogene und mediengestützte Forschung mittels performativer Praxis. Gegenwärtige soziotechnologische Transformationen im Kontext menschlich-technologischer Beziehungen – ob low-tech oder high-tech – werden experimentell ausgelotet, einschließlich jener im Zusammenhang mit KI. Ziel ist es, durch die performative Praxis ein kritisches Bewusstsein für die damit verbundenen künstlerischen Fragestellungen zu schärfen und deren ästhetische sowie politische Dimensionen durch eigene Erfahrung zu reflektieren.
Ausgangspunkt des Seminars sind kleine performative Interventionen, die mit verschiedenen Kameras aufgezeichnet und in die Räumlichkeiten des Gebäudes Paulusplatz 5 eingebettet werden. Es wird untersucht, wie technologische Dispositive die Erfahrung des Ortes verändern und ihn durch Interaktion neu konfigurieren. Diese Prozesse sollen in weiterer Folge als künstlerische Mittel ausgelotet und eingesetzt werden.
Wie wird Raum durch das Kameraobjektiv (neu) erschaffen? Welche Arten von Zeugenschaft entstehen? Was passiert, wenn die Kamera den Bewegungen des Körpers folgt? Was, wenn der Körper von der Kamera geführt wird? Welche performativen Fragmente treten zutage? Entstehen mentale Labyrinthe? Mediale Vorzimmer? Welche Szenarien entfalten sich?
In diesem Co-Teaching-Format legt Marie-Claude Poulin den Fokus auf die Reflexion und experimentelle Untersuchung der Interaktion von Körpern mit physischen und digitalen Räumen. Die Arbeit mit Video – und dem spezifischen Dispositiv der Kamera – wird von Flora Watzal begleitet.

This seminar fosters performative and media-based exploration through embodied research, based on the idea that any experimentation involving human-machine relations, whether low-tech or high-tech, sheds light on the socio-technological transformations currently underway, including those related to AI. It aims to sharpen, through practice, a critical awareness of the artistic issues at play by examining their aesthetic and political implications through lived experience.
The starting point of the seminar are small performative interventions – captured by different types of cameras – and embedded in the premises of the Paulusplatz 5 building. It examines how technological dispositives transform the experience of the site and reconfigure it through interaction. These experiments will be subsequently used for critical analysis and artistic processes.
How is space (re)created through the camera lens? Which kinds of witness-personas arise? What if the camera follows body movement? What if the body is directed by the camera? Which kinds of performative fragments emerge? Does the process evoke mental labyrinths? Media antechambers? What scenarios unfold?
In this co-teaching context, Marie Claude Poulin will focus on the reflection and experimental investigation of the interaction of bodies with physical and digital spaces.
