Was macht den Charakter einer Stadt aus, was verleiht ihr ihr Gesicht? Architektur, Parkanlagen, Infrastruktur, Institutionen ebenso wie die dort lebende Gesellschaft, ihre Communities, ihr Nachtleben, ihre kulturellen Einrichtungen… Kunst ist im urbanen Kontext dabei allgegenwärtig, mehr als wir uns oft bewusst sind. Während gewisse Kunstwerke und Kunstorte in der kollektiven Wahrnehmung fest verankert sind, bleiben andere nahezu unbemerkt wie versteckte kleine Juwelen.

# Projektarbeit Holz – Einführung

The main focus is on the development and realization of an artistic project in the field of digital art. Media-specific basics are taught accompanying the projects. There will be a camera workshop and, if required, introductions/ deepenings of audio, video and image editing and generation.

Embodied Spaces: Site-Specific Performativity and Technological Dispositives
A cross-course experiment

Marie-Claude Poulin and Flora Watzal are launching a joint course project in the summer semester 2025. Together with the students we will develop performative sketches and concepts and explore the intersections between body, space and technology in the context of site-specific art.

The starting point of the seminar are small performative interventions – captured by different types of cameras – and embedded in the premises of the Paulusplatz 5 building. It examines how technological dispositives transform the experience of the site and reconfigure it through interaction. These experiments will be subsequently used for critical analysis and artistic processes.

This course presents Sámi/Indigenous cinema and what are the storytelling methods that differ from the western storytelling values. In this course we are finding out how to use those values, methods and ethics in all storytelling and in creative works.

Die Vorlesung stellt vor und diskutiert – mit konkreten Aufführungs- und Textbeispielen – künstlerische Arbeiten, die sich ortsbezogen mit Performance auseinandersetzen. Performative Ortsspezifik ist zugleich als ‚Ortsentzug‘ zu denken – in ihrer für Performance inhärenten, situativen Spannung zwischen Realität und Fiktionalität, die reale Orte wie Körper zugleich virtualisiert, ins Mögliche wendet, gleichermaßen faktisch und fiktional. Die ortsspezifische Adressierung der Möglichkeitsbedingungen, Orte selbst als Medium zu nutzen, deterritorialisiert sie zugleich, lässt sie porös werden.

In times of war and crises, where lack of dialogue and cold distance often rules over common ground and compassion, the art of building bridges is more needed than ever.
